Brother 1034DX Review
The Brother 1034DX serger is a variant of Brother’s very popular 1034D serger machine. The Brother 1034D is considered one of the best serger sewing machine, and the Brother 1034DX variant lives up to this. The DX version is very well loved and reviewed, and for good reason! This machine has lots of features that make serging less scary. From the color coded thread paths to the included instructional DVD and manual setting up this machine is easy for even beginner sewers. I consider the color coded thread paths one of the best things to include on a serger. Trying to thread them without the colors is really difficult.
Sergers are great for getting a professional finish to sewn projects, and this machine excels at that. It can be used with a wide range of fabrics, from the lightest silks to some denim and canvas work. Advanced users will appreciate the wide range of fabrics that can be used with this machine, as well as the very fast 1,300 stitches per minute that it can sew at. This is an excellent machine if you are looking for a new serger.
The biggest complaint about this machine is how hard it can be to thread the needles and loopers. With all of the easy threading sewing machines out there these days, threading a needle by hand seems barbaric. Amazon and your sewing store should have tools to make threading the needles and loopers easier, and I would recommend picking some up, especially for the lower looper.
