Comparing the Singer 4452 vs 4432
Differences
The Singer 4452 sewing machine and the Singer 4432 sewing machine are very similar sewing machines. Looking at them, they are basically the same machine with slight differences in color. There are two main differences between the Singer 4432 vs 4452. These two differences are:
- The Singer 4452 comes with more presser feet
- The Singer 4452 has a bonus clearance plate
There’s one other minor difference, the 4452 sewing machine comes with some heavy duty sewing needles. These are easy enough to purchase separately so I am not counting them as a difference.
The Singer 4452 comes with more presser feet
One of the two differences between the 4452 heavy duty sewing machine and the 4432 heavy duty sewing machine is that the 4452 comes with more presser feet. Specifically, the 4452 Singer comes with a non-stick foot and a walking / even feed foot.
The non-stick foot is great if you are working with materials like vinyl or leather. The non-stick foot is designed to skid along the top of these materials instead of sticking to it. Sticking would caused uneven stitches – not something you want! You can purchase the non-stick foot separately for the Singer 4432 heavy duty here.
The even feed / walking foot is great for sewing layers of fabric together. This foot is perfect to use if you are making a quilt or other padded project. by keeping the many layers together as you sew, it prevents shifting and bunching of the layers. You can purchase this foot separately for the Singer 4432 here.
While the Singer 4452 comes with two more presser feet than the 4432 Singer, you can easily purchase the presser feet separately if you need them.
The Singer 4452 has a bonus clearance plate
Another difference between the Singer 4452 heavy duty sewing machine and the heavy duty 4432 is that the 4452 Singer sewing machine comes with a bonus clearance plate. A clearance plate is basically a tool for lifting the presser foot some while you sew thick seams, for instance if you were hemming jeans. A clearance plate can also be used when attaching buttons. You would set the clearance plate between the button and the fabric. When you sew the button on, having the clearance plate between the button and the fabric leaves a gap between the button and the fabric that you can turn into a button shank. A clearance plate is a pretty generic tool. You can use a non-Singer version of this tool just as successfully as a Singer version. A clearance plate can be purchased here.
